Overhead view of Red River

Msgr. Gregory Schlesselmann, rector of Cardinal Muench Seminary in Fargo, N.D., was able to get an aerial view of the Red River in the small plane flown by a North Dakota priest last weekend.

The pictures taken during the plane ride are definitely worth a look, especially the interactive photo at the end which illustrates the normal river flow, the location of the dikes and the river overflow. The priest told CNS the pictures — without the markups — are somewhat misleading because they seem to show more snow than water, but he noted that underneath much of that layer of snow is in fact water.
