Turkey hunting with a bishop?

Who knew that Bishop Joseph L. Charron, who retired as head of the Diocese of Des Moines two years ago, was a turkey-hunting afficionado?

Dave Hrbacek, the staff photographer for The Catholic Spirit who also writes the always-enjoyable Faith Outdoors blog that brings a Catholic perspective to the subject, wrote a piece yesterday about hoping to go hunting with Bishop Charron this spring. If you hunt or fish or just enjoy hiking, you’ll also enjoy this post and the rest of Hrbacek’s reflections.

  1. There is nothing wrong with a bishop who hunts for turkeys. I would love to hunt with him.
