There’s a new movie out called “New in Town” featuring Renee Zellweger that by all reports might be worth seeing. The National Catholic Register posted a blog item about it earlier this week headlined “New Film Respects Christianity.” You can read the review of the movie here from the U.S. bishops’ Office for Film and Broadcasting, plus we had a story this week about one of the co-stars, Siobhan Fallon Hogan, the mother of three children in a Catholic school in New Jersey.

  1. Way to go hope to see more well made pictures from Hollywood.

Its about time we got some like we had in the past
like Bells of St. Mary’s etc.

I know were in a different time and we can make classy pictures with respect to Christianity and Christ in a better light.

  2. So some “christians” inject the name of “Jesus” into conversations. Does this in itself make a “christian” movie that Catholics can behold? In my experience most of the christians that always mention Jesus don’t much like us Catholics. In their opnion we are at best quasi christians, at worst part of a cult. The last real good Catholic movie that I have seen that made me both inspired and thinking was “The Mission”. I wish someone would make a real life movie of the life of St. Francis. This would make us all think of our “christian” values.
