I believe that Archbishop Chaput has unintentionally given the wrong information about a Catholic’s responsibility regarding voting for candidates who support abortion. It is the position of the USCCB that, where there are two candidates and one candidate supports abortion rights and the other does not, a Catholic may not in good conscience EVER vote for the pro-abortion candidate. I believe that the Archbishop remarks pertain to the situation where there are two candidates both of whom support abortion.
